Mary Sue Summers Blackley, 70, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Services will be held 1 p.m. today at the Obion Church of Christ with Roger Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery near Obion. Cryer Funeral Home in Obion is in charge of arrangements. Tommy Morris, Vincent Thompson, Sammy Snead, Tony Bullion, J.C. Coleman and Jim West will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Walton and Glen Parnell. Mrs. Blackley was born Oct. 5, 1937, in Martin, daughter of the late F. R. Sam and Golden Clarice Summers of Martin. She was the widow of Billy Wilson Blackley. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Tennessee at Martin, taught first grade for 30 years beginning in Obion County and retired from Hillcrest Elementary in 2006. She was a long-time member of the Obion Church of Christ, a member of DAR and Delta Kappa Gamma. Survivors include two sons, James Stephen Blackley and Daryl Wilson Blackley, both of Obion; her step mother-in-law, Mary Eaton Blackley of Obion; one sister, Martha Maynard of Lansing, Mich.; four grandchildren, Daphne York of Martin, Stephanie Garrett of Dyersburg, Rebekah Carman of Union City and Michael Hall of Jacksonville, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren. wcp 10-7-08
