Edith Edwards Bowlin Masden, 90, of Dresden, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services were held 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church-Family Life Center, Dresden, with Dr. Don McCulley officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. George Darnell, George Miles Darnell, Bill Ray, Charles Henry Darnell, Ryan Edwards and Wes Cate served as pallbearers. Mrs. Masden was born in Gleason, daughter of the late Charles Macon Sr. and Velma Cheek Allman Edwards. She was the widow of S. T. Bowlin and Woodrow Masden. She was a licensed funeral director, a graduate of Martin High School and the University of Tennessee Junior College in Martin and a member of Dresden First Baptist Church. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Dr. Penny Copas of Bowling Green, Ky.; one stepson, the Rev. Dan Masden of Danville, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Aileen Campbell Edwards of Sharon; seven nephews, Tommy Edwards of Knoxville, Jim Edwards of Bolivar, Sid Settle of Franklin, Ed Settle of Nashville, Charles Henry Darnell of Dresden, George Darnell of Owensboro, Ky., and Gene Darnell of Louisburg, N.C. She was also preceded in death by one stepson, Dr. Ron Masden; two sisters, Elisabeth Darnell and Margaret Settle Barton; and one brother, Charles Macon Edwards Jr. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Dresden First Baptist Church Building Fund. wcp 10-7-08 w/photo
