Ye Olde Renaissance Faire returns to Paducah, Ky., on Saturday, turning back the clock for a sampling of the food, crafts and games of the Middle Ages.
Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, located at Ninth and Broadway in Paducah. Bellowing town criers and mischievous fools will fill the grounds with color and merriment bringing this magical Renaissance village to life.
This year’s Faire will feature Renaissance-style foods prepared by Louis Kirchhoff and Laura Duff, produce from Bennett’s Market and many artisans and vendors. Period activities will include blacksmithing demonstrations. Featured performers include the magic of Todd Duff and bagpipes by James “Bear” Whitworth.
Visitors can have their picture taken in the stocks and enjoy the antics of roving minstrels, fortune tellers and wizards. A “Kidde’s Kingdom,” with games, art and crafts, will delight young visitors.
The Royal Parade, including the crowning of the king and queen of the Faire, begins at 2:30 p.m. The Faire concludes with a traditional Anglican Evensong, beginning at 5:30.
This event is free and open to the public.
