A Union City man told police he was assaulted early Sunday while walking on North Dobbins Street in Union City.
The victim said he was walking south shortly before 2 a.m. when two black men came up from behind him and his girlfriend, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The two men allegedly told the victim to drop what he had and then said they initially were not going to harm the victim but changed their minds. One of the two men started cutting the victim on his arms and hands with what appeared to be a knife, police reported.
The victim and his girlfriend both told police they did not know either of the men who did the cutting. The victim was taken to the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment of lacerations to both of his arms and hands, according to the report.
