LaRue Simpson Oliver, 85, of Palmersville, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Henry County Medical Center, Paris. Services were held noon Wednesday at Union Chapel Church of Christ near Palmersville, with Shannon Seaton and Tony Kelton officiating. Burial was in Palmersville Cemetery in Palmersville. Derik Moon, Fred Oliver, Mitchell Whitney, Jim Montgomery, George Montgomery, Gary Montgomery, Dennis Montgomery and Nate Montgomery served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Cameron Baker and Jimmy Simpson. Mrs. Oliver was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Weakley County, daughter of the late Claude and Lexie Rickman Simpson. She was the widow of Charles E. “Pete” Oliver, a dispatcher for Yellow Cab and a retired seamstress, member of the Palmersville Chapter of Eastern Star and attended Union Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Montgomery of Palmersville; one son Charles R. (Cindy) Oliver of Palmersville; one sister-in-law, Eileen Nichols of Dresden; three grandchildren, Candy Whitney of Dresden, Kim Oliver of Chicago, Ill., and Brent Montgomery of Palmersville; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Kent Montgomery. wcp 10-2-08
