Central FCE Club met Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Catfish Restaurant in Martin. Beverly Stott gave an inspiring devotion on “The Concert.” Gladys Simmons read “Life Is a Gift” then led in singing “Count Your Blessings.” We said the FCE creed in unison and recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag. Extension agent Beverly Selby announced Glenda Jackson’s presentation, “Wrapped Up in FCE,” has been selected as the 2009 TAFCE State Conference theme. A planning day is scheduled on Oct. 6 at the Jackson district office. The county FCE council meeting will be Oct. 9. We will meet at 9:30 a.m. to make Christmas tray favors for a local nursing home and at 1:30 p.m. for the council meeting at the Farm Bureau Building. Extension agent Shelby presented the program “Cook’s Corner: Cook It Safely,” with helpful suggestions for preventing food-borne illness. Our next club meeting will be Oct. 8, with a potluck lunch at Glenda Jackson’s home.wcp 10-2
