The Legionnaires provided for the crowd a very good dinner and among the food choices were corned beef and cabbage and other well-prepared foods. As always, some of the ladies provided some very good desserts. Post Commander Jackie Darnell presented Legionnaire Jimmy Dudley a plaque for having recruited the greatest number of members. Thomas Darnell of Milan, vice commander of the Sons of the American Legion of West Tennessee, presented a plaque to American Legion Post 94 Commander Jackie Darnell for the money that the members of Post 94 collected in the drive for Fisher House. Following the joint meeting. President Klutts called the meeting to order and asked Chaplain Janice Alford to give the devotional. Secretary/Treasurer Shirley Alexander read the minutes of the August meeting and gave the treasurer’s report and both were approved as given. President Klutts announced that the Ninth District meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary would be at 1 p.m., Sept. 21, at Martin American Legion Post 55. She also reminded the members to take articles to the next meeting to add to those that were left over from the last two boxes that were sent to two female soldiers in Iraq. Laurie Pritchett reported that 43 members had paid their dues. Any member who has not paid her dues is encouraged to do so. Good news! Another new member was added and she is Cathy Dyer. The unit heartily welcomes her and it is hoped that she can attend each meeting. Any other lady who is eligible to become a member is encouraged to join the unit to help support the programs of the auxiliary. Two visitors were present and they were Roxie Dublin, wife of Veterans Service officer Keith Dublin and Carol Brann, wife of Legionnaire Hugh Brann. Each is extended an invitation to attend any of the meetings as well as an invitation to become a member. Some members are unable to attend the meetings because of health reasons, and their loyalty to the auxiliary is appreciated. They were faithful in attendance as long as they were able to attend. The next meeting will be on the third Thursday of October, and all members are encouraged to attend. Any lady who is eligible to become a member would be welcomed into the auxiliary.wcp 10-2-08
