Jewel (Michael) Blackshire Western, 90, of Milan, mother of Carol Morgan of Union City, died Sept. 30, 2008, at National Health Care in Milan.
Services were set for 2 p.m. today at Sitka Church of Christ, with Bobby Pinckley and Scott Bloodworth officiating. Burial was to follow at Pebble Hill Cemetery at Stantonville.
Pallbearers were to be Joshua Craddock, Phillip Jones, Alton Coleman, Mark Jackson, Tyler Coleman and Christian Coleman.
Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home in Medina is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Selmer, daughter of the late Levi and Pearl (Martin) Michael. She had moved to Milan as a child and attended school there. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a longtime member of Sitka Church of Christ.
She was the widow of J.C. Blackshire, who died in 1962, and of W.D. Western, who died in 1999.
Survivors also include another daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Mike Jones of Milan; her son, Jesse Blackshire of Memphis; three stepdaughters and the husband of one, Cheryl and Eddie Hayes of Bradford, Sandra Grimm of Jackson and Jean Arnold of Humboldt; three stepsons and the wife of one, Larry Western and Jerry and Frances Western, all of White Bluff, and Keith Western of Jackson; her sister, Mary Shelton of Adamsville; her brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Johnnie Michael of Stantonville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Coleman, Myrtle Tapp and Annie Michael; two brothers, Willie Michael and Troy Michael; her stepdaughter, Kay (Western) Dunkle; and her son-in-law, Alfred Morgan.
