Lael  Sunday School Class at Union City First Baptist Church met at the family life center recently.

Bobbie Adams, outreach leader, opened the meeting and asked for prayer for the sick and bereaved. Joyce Stephens offered the prayer. The class donated money to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home and sent a donation to the church in memory of Glenda Melton, a classmate who died recently.

Jean Eaker brought the devotional, based on Colossians 3:23 — “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not unto men.”

She said Jesus suffered for all our needs and that God expects believers to be an example for unbelievers.

She added that Paul wrote four books in the Bible from prison: Philemon, Colossians, Thessalonians and Ephesians.

Jessie White served delicious refreshments of brownies, ice cream, trail mix and Coke™ or coffee.

Attending were Mrs. Adams, Ms. Eaker, Lena Mai Pruitt, Edna McIntosh, Grace Killion, Dorothy Capps, Pat Cunningham, Faye Passmore, Ms. White and Mrs. Stephens, who teaches the class.

The hostess for the October meeting will be Mrs. Stephens.
