NASHVILLE (AP) — Supporters of letting Nashville voters decide on whether to require all city services be delivered in English plan to protest outside a political fundraiser attended by Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, Nashville mayor Karl Dean and a state senator. The efforts to get the measure on the November ballot failed on a technicality. The measure’s supporters plan to protest the three politicians today for not backing their effort. If passed, the measure could prevent the city from translating written materials into other languages or using interpreters to communicate with people who don’t speak English well.
