The Fine Arts Club of Martin held its first meeting of the 2008-09 year on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the beautiful home of Mrs. Lowell Fields. Hostesses assisting were Mrs. John Wall and Mrs. Tom Farmer, III. There were 18 members in attendance that enjoyed the pineapple pie and coffee served that afternoon. Newly appointed president, Mrs. Lowell Fields, opened the business meeting. She thanked the yearbook committee for their hard work and for the lovely illustration of the C.E. Weldon Public Library that dons the cover. Reports were heard from the treasurer and the membership committee. At the conclusion of the business meeting, Mrs. James Pritchett had the privilege of introducing local author and guest speaker for the afternoon, Mrs. Sandra Robinson. Mrs. Robinson gave an enlightening account of her journey into becoming a Christian Publishing writer, from that first day sitting at her computer to now having just sold her fourth novel for publishing. The first of the four will be available on Amazon in November and is a trilogy mystery series. Mrs. Robinson shared with the club a great quote that she offers as sound advice to all: “It’s never too late in fiction or in life to revise!” Members in attendance not already mentioned were Mrs. Jim Cannon, Mrs. Bob Cheeseman, Mrs. John Chester, Mrs. Harold Clifton, Mrs. Tom Gallien, Mrs. G.T. Hall, Mrs. Michael Hinds, Mrs. Morris Liming, Mrs. Bob Peeler, Mrs. E.B. Pritchett Jr., Mrs. George Pritchett, Mrs. Sanford Truitt, Mrs. Fred Vowell and Mrs. Phil Wade. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 1. wcp 9-23-08
