The CornFest Chalk Art contest is set for 3:30 p.m. Thursday on South Depot Street in downtown Union City. The opportunity to “leave their mark” is open to children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Free registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Kiwanis Park. Pizza, sodas and cookies will be provided and there will also be free balloons and gift bags for all. Trophies will be handed out in several categories.

For more information, contact Kara Sadler at 886-8975. The contest is sponsored by First State Bank.

The CornFest parade will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday. Families are invited to close out the afternoon festivities by attending or participating in this fun-filled parade. Decorated trikes, bikes, autos, floats, trucks and more will be welcome, as will family groups, bands or organization for a “corny” procession through downtown Union City, a spokesman said. There is no entry fee.

Parade line-up will begin at 6 p.m. on the west side of Cheatham and North First streets and the parade will move south to Jackson Street.

Registration forms are available at the Main Street office or on the CornFest Web site.

Contact Michelle Bing at 886-5715 or Matt Russell at 885-5453 for more information. The parade is sponsored by First Citizens National Bank and will be overseen by Union City Jaycees.
