LIFELINE Bloodmobile will be at Health Quest on East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City Monday from 1-7 p.m. Donors will receive a new T-shirt and know they have helped save a life, a spokesman said.
Donors are reminded to bring proof of identity. A photo ID or two alternate forms of identification (blood center card, Social Security card, personal checkbook, voter registration, bank or credit card, school or work ID, vehicle registration) are necessary.
LIFELINE is the official blood and blood products provider for patients the local hospital and 18 other West Tennessee hospitals. There is a critical need for types O negative, O positive and A negative this week. Patients rely on blood transfusions for treatment and recovery from devastating illnesses such as leukemia and other cancers. Accident victims and patients requiring surgery also benefit from blood transfusions. Blood given to any other blood bank does not necessarily help local patients because the blood may be sent to other parts of the state.
