CornFest “Bed Races” will be held Sept. 27 at Art in the Park at 1 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City. The deadline for entries is Sept. 22 and the cost is $10.
Each team simply needs four pushers and one rider. The bed needs to be a minimum size single or “twin” size bed and it should be decorated. Racers will be pushing it about 200 feet. Halfway through the race course, the racers will stop for a Chinese firedrill, with one of the pushers and the riders switching places. Each bed will compete in two or three races.
Prizes include cash as well as trophies.
All bed entries are requested to be in the parade Sept. 25. Lineup will be at 6 p.m. on the corner of West Cheatham and North First streets.
CornFest Bed Races are sponsored by Joe’s Steak House. Entry forms can be picked up at the Main Street office behind Suedell’s, at the Obion County Chamber of Commerce office on East Church Street or on the Web site at www.obioncountycornfest.com.
