MEMPHIS (AP) — Parents of Shelby County Schools students now have the option of checking their children’s grades online, rather than getting a paper report card.
Parents have been able for two years to track their children’s academic progress and school attendance through a password-protected Web site.
School Superintendent Bobby Webb told The Commercial Appeal the paperless report cards will save the schools a lot of paper and a lot of work.
Posting the grades online is part of the schools’ initiative called “Go Green,” which includes posting, not printing, bulky agendas for school board meetings.
Shelby County school officials said paper report cards will still be sent to parents who prefer them.
