The community is invited to view the Donor Family Memorial Quilt which will be on display in the lobby of Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton Thursday from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

This quilt memorializes those people who offered the gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Today, in the United States alone, nearly 100,000 people are on the waiting list for a life saving organ transplant. Of those people, over 650 are residents of the state of Kentucky. Some of them may live in our own community, a spokesman for the display said.

“We will also offer a table of information staffed by a member of the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates who will be able to answer questions about organ donation and will offer members of the community the opportunity to register on the newly created Kentucky Organ Donor Registry,” the spokesman said. “This new registry will enable people to place their names on the registry, stating their wish to be organ donors. If anyone has signed their driver’s license in the past, it is now necessary to take this next step and sign the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry.”

For more information, call Donna Hacker at Parkway Regional Hospital. To have a free presentation about organ donation at a civic organization meeting, call (800) 525-3456.
