About 1,000 Gibson Electric Membership Corp. customers in the Woodland Mills area were affected by a trio of power outages Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night, apparently the result of a wire that had come off an insulator.

The first outage occurred about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and the second outage shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday, with a very brief third outage following a short time later in the evening.

A GEMC spokesman said the outages all affected the same area in and around Woodland Mills and affected 1,058 customers. Crews patrolled the area Wednesday and did not immediately find a problem that could be attributed to that day’s outage. After Thursday night’s outage, crews patrolled the area again this morning in order to rule out a problem on the lines.

The spokesman said earlier today that crews discovered a wire had come off an insulator and made the repair, which required another brief outage of about two minutes this morning.
