The Messenger. 09.08.08 Betty JoAnn (Crabtree) Griffin, 71, of the Crystal community, a former resident of Harrisburg, Ark., died Sept. 7, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Fred Clayton, Lacy Clayton, Allen Cleek, Tommy Cleek, Trey Cleek and John Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith WoJahn, Joe Bettga and Roger Rose. She was born May 8, 1937, in Obion County, daughter of the late Huel White and Betty Joel (Barnes) Crabtree. She married Glen David Griffin March 27, 1955. He died July 4, 2006. She was a retired cosmetologist and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was a former member of Mount Olive Baptist Church near Union City. Survivors include two sons and her daughter-in-law, David Huel Griffin of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Barry Wayne and Betty Griffin of Tawas City, Mich.; four grandchildren, Crystal Keslinger, Sarah Kolb and Cody Kolb, all of Tawas City, and Kristopher Glen Griffin of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Alader Yvetta Ferrell of Union City, Daythel Elaine Pewitt of Dover, Kate Ellen Berndt of Elk Grove, Ill., and Stella Scharrer of Flint, Mich.; and two brothers, Billy Fred Crabtree of Union City and Gerrell Glenn Crabtree of Broomfield, Colo. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Huel Barnes Crabtree and Bon Ray Crabtree. Condolences may be sent to the family at the funeral home Web site: www.white-ranson.com.
