Lillian Dorothy Brooks, 84, of Union City, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City. Services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City with Dr. Melvin Poe and the Rev. Jerry Leggett. Burial was in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Bobby James, Wesley Thompson, Blake Cheatham, Kenneth Cheatham, Teddy Willcutt and James Vinson served as pallbearers. Mrs. Brooks was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Weakley County, daughter of the late George W. and Versie May Price Moon. She was the widow of Marvin Jackson Brooks, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Victory Sunday School Class and Sanctuary Choir Hall of Fame. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda (Bobby) Wyatt of Union City; one son, Kenneth (Karen) Brooks of Union City; a sister, Mary Lee Brooks of Gleason; three brothers, James Moon of Como, Gerald Moon of Gleason and Hulon Moon of Paris; five grandchildren, Richard Lee Brooks, Nina Gaye Crowell, Michelle Kirk Willcutt and James Kyle Kirk, all of Union City, and Christopher David Brooks of Seymour; two step grandchildren, Angie Kendall of Hornbeak and Regina VanCleave of Martin; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Williams and Ruby Jones; and five brothers, S. A. Moon, Woodrow Moon, Talbot Moon, John Will Moon and Bubba Moon. The family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church building fund. wcp 9-4
