from weather.gov THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EAST ARKANSAS… THE MISSOURI BOOTHEEL…NORTH MISSISSIPPI…AND WEST TENNESSEE. .DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT HURRICANE GUSTAV MADE LANDFALL ALONG COASTAL SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA EARLIER TODAY AND WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHWEST AND SLOWLY WEAKEN. AS THE HURRICANE MOVES FURTHER NORTHWEST…OUTER RAIN BANDS WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE MID SOUTH LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EVENING. STRONG WIND GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE LATER TONIGHT ACROSS PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL ARKANSAS AND NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI. SUSTAINED WINDS MAY ALSO RANGE BETWEEN 20 AND 30 MPH OVER THESE AREAS…THEREFORE A WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE GUSTAV WILL STALL IN THE ARKLATEX REGION TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY BEFORE LIFTING SLOWLY NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE MID SOUTH ON THURSDAY. THIS STORM WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER…GUSTY WINDS…AND FLOODING TO PORTIONS OF THE REGION FROM TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
