Highlights of the Goodyear Car & Bike Show

The grounds at Union City Goodyear’s plant will feature many special displays Monday, including: • Hot rod display provided by Legens Hot Rods, Martin; • Crosley’s racing car (Padu-cah, Ky.). • 2009 Corvette provided by GM plant in Bowling Green, Ky.; • Stallion hybrid three-wheeler/motorcycle; • Motorcycle display provided by Abernathy’s Motorcycles. Seminars on various automotive topics will be included. Over $1,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to Car & Bike Show entries. There will be a chance for someone to win a $40,000 vehicle of their choice — sponsored by Terry Petty Chevrolet, Herman Jenkins Motors, Union City Ford, Abernathy’s Motorcycles, Union City Insurance, Weakley County Nissan and Mike’s Auto Detailing. Registration is 8 a.m.-noon. Car show entry fee: $25 per competition car or truck, $10 per motorcycle. Pre-registration: $20 per competition car or truck. Swap meet: $20 per entry. Awards will include: “Top 40” and 15 specialty awards. An 8×10 photo will be taken of vehicles. The price is included with car/truck registration, but an additional $5 will be charged for bike photos. This is a family event. It will include door prizes, music, food and fun activities for children. High school booster clubs from Obion County Central, Martin and Fulton County, Ky., will provide concessions. General public admission: $3 per vehicle (part of the proceeds will be shared with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee). Car & Bike Show sponsors: Union City Coca-Cola, WENK/WTPR/KF-99/KQ-105, Reynolds Brothers Tire Co., VF Outlet, Hampton Inn, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Wood Communications, Advanced Auto, Auto Zone and Goodyear Service Store.
