Hunter Hynds Unit meets

wcp The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its August meeting at Stanley’s Chapel with 12 members present. President Chris Cheatham called the meeting to order, led the reading of the purpose and gave the prayer following prayer requests and concerns. Lucile Thompson read the minutes and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report. Announcements were made that the district annual day will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 14 at Tiptonville United Methodist Church. Tentative plans were discussed for the next meeting at Stanley’s Chapel at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10. Sandra McTurner presented the program “Made in the Image of God,” written by Jacob S. Dharmaraj. The focus of the program was to help us understand the different people who share the land of Israel. Each member was given a card on which a name of a child was written who was killed in recent violence in Palestine/Israel region. Readers of the program were Emily Haynes, Rosemary Coleman, Serena Blanton and Leanne Parnell. Emily Haynes led the unit in a song composed by a group of United Methodist Women’s South Atlantic Regional School, “This Land Is Your Land.” Scripture reading used was Amos 9:7. The worship center was a table that held the cross and old keys. The closing song was “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” led by Emily Haynes and Rosemary Coleman the pianist. Mrs. Haynes gave the benediction.
