wcp SMITH CHAPEL SCHOOL REUNION — The annual Smith Chapel School reunion was held Saturday, July 12, at the Pillowville Volunteer Fire Department. Smith Chapel, a large one-room schoolhouse for grades 1-8, was opened around 1931 and closed around 1946. The school, which is now demolished, was located in Pillowville and was located on what is now called Highway 190. Sixteen people attended the reunion. Eight of them were the original classmates. The reunion is always held the second Saturday in July. Classmates in attendance were (from left) Jimmy Killion, Margaret (Crocker) Vinson, Bobby Hargrove, Lonnie Jones, Crandell Crocker, Ruby (Doster) Hargrove, Joyce (Scarbrough) McBride and Jane (Dunlap) Blaylock.
