A Kenton couple were charged with drug-related offenses following a traffic stop Tuesday night by Union City police.

Kevin Wayne Ross, 32, and Brandy Michelle Ross, 32, both of 120 Morella Road, Kenton, were arrested around 10 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City, according to a Union City Police Department report.

Kevin Ross was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (meth), possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Mrs. Ross was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, police reported.

Police reported they stopped a vehicle with expired tags about 9:52 p.m. and a check of the tags did not come back to the vehicle on which they were displayed.

The reporting officer said he approached the vehicle and observed “a lot of excessive movement,” adding that it appeared someone handed something to a back seat passenger and then put his hands between his legs.

All of the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and police did a patdown for weapons. Police recovered from Kevin Ross’s crotch area a bag that contained a clear baggy with a crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report, as well as drug-related paraphernalia and several Valium pills.

Mrs. Ross was allegedly found to have one Hydrodocone and three Xanex pills in her purse, but no prescription, police reported.
