Louis Sawyer, 84, of Mason Hall died Aug. 11, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethpage Baptist Church in Mason Hall, with burial following in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Tony Michaels will officiate.

Friends may call at the church 5-8 p.m. today.

Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be made to Bethpage Baptist  Church, 59 Bethpage Road, Kenton, TN 38233.

He was born July 2, 1924, in Gibson County, son of the late Perry and Ora Inez (Thompson) Sawyer. He was the widower of Inez (Park) Sawyer and was a farmer and a member and deacon of Bethpage Baptist Church. He had also been a trustee of Bethpage Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda S. and Bobby Moore of Brentwood; three brothers, Glen Sawyer and Lloyd Sawyer, both of Kenton, and Talmadge Sawyer of Farmington, Mich.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Johnny and Jeneane Moore of Mount Juliet and Tom Sawyer and Trisia Moore of Murfreesboro; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna Moore, Tyler Moore, J.D. Moore and Katie Moore.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Lake, Alta Smith and Martha Jones; and seven brothers, Chesley Sawyer, J.M. Sawyer, Bill Sawyer, George Sawyer, Wayne Sawyer, Wilbur Sawyer and Larience Sawyer.
