Courtesies held for Miss Norquist, Coker

Several bridal courtesies were held recently for Glenda Gale Norquist of Union City and Kenneth Edward Coker of Gleason, prior to their recent wedding. The bride is the daughter of Roger and Tina Norquist of Troy and Sid and Connie Chalker of Union City. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Long and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Norquist Sr., all of Troy, and the late Glenda Long of Union City. The groom is the son of Charles and Eleanor Coker of Gleason. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Coker of Newbern and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Tucker of Gleason. BRIDAL SHOWER Ina Orsborne and Jayne Adcock, both of Troy, hosted a shower for the bride, along with the ladies of First Baptist Church in Troy, in the church’s fellowship hall. Guests were served cake, nuts, mints and punch. In attendance, in addition to the hostesses, were Mrs. Norquist and Mrs. Chalker; Brandi Griffin and Jill King, both of Union City; Malinda Cunningham of Obion; and Madison Hicks, Marie Adkins, Debi Rudd, Norma Kissell, Judy Smith, Wanda Barnes, Allison Kail, Vicki Harris and Buddy and Sherry Griffin, all of Troy. CHURCH GATHERING The ladies of Mount Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Troy hosted a shower for the bride. Guests were served an assortment of cookies and soft drinks. Attending were Mrs. Chalker; Judy Wilder of Rives; and Genece Long, Sue Lee, Cindy Kill, Earnestine Barnett, Linda Hutchens and Mildred Cole, all of Troy. FAMILY SHOWER A shower was recently given for the couple at the home of the groom’s aunt, Sue Smith of Newbern. Co-hostesses were his aunt, Alice Teague of Dyersburg, and his cousin, Stephanie Cherry of Newbern. Guests were served lemonade, tea, strawberries with chocolate sauce and cake. The groom was presented with a soup bowl which had belonged to his grandmother. BRIDAL SHOWER A shower was given for the bride at the home of Kay and Virgil Whitlock in Millington. Guests were served vegetable pizza, sausage balls, fruits and veggies with dip and strawberry punch. The bride was presented with a family cookbook by the hostess. COMMUNITY SHOWER A shower was given for the bride recently at First Citizens National Bank community room in Troy. The event was hosted by Cheryl Lunsford of Union City and Kathy Turner of Rives. Guests were served an assortment of fruits and veggies with dip. Cake and punch were also served. Also attending were Mrs. Chalker; Mrs. Norquist; Mrs. Long; Maegan and Laney Hendrix of Woodland Mills; Cynthia and Cierra Ingle, Brooke Albright and Debi Rudd, all of Troy; Charlotte Hicks of Samburg; and Angie Emrich, Rhonda Chandler, Emma Norquist, Aiyana Cross and Linda Allman, all of Union City.
