Bridal courtesies were recently held honoring Jillian Leigh Johnson and Alexander Carlton Covarrubias, both of Memphis. Miss Johnson is formerly of Union City. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson of Union City. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alejandro Covarrubias of Atoka. The couple will wed at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis. A reception will be held at the Clunan Center at St. Louis Catholic Church. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. BRIDAL SHOWER Bridesmaid Cindy Natera and her husband, Al, of Germantown recently held at bridal shower honoring Miss Johnson in their new home. Co-hosts for the event were bridesmaids Lauren Gordon and Brooksie Arrington, both of Memphis. Refreshments were served in the formal dining room and included chicken salad croissant sandwiches, spinach dip and vegetables and tortilla chips with cheese dip and salsa. A fresh pineapple accented with fruit kabobs was used as the centerpiece. Fruit dip was also available. Strawberry and vanilla cupcakes were served from cupcake trees in the breakfast nook, along with lime punch. The table was decorated with pink tipped white roses. Guests used cups and napkins monogrammed with the bridal couple’s names. The bride-elect was presented a corsage of light pink tea roses and white lilies. Introduced to those in attendance were the mothers of the bridal couple and her sister and maid of honor, Nova Dillard of Memphis, formerly of Union City. Presents were opened by the bride-elect and she received a variety of gifts for the kitchen and home. Miss Johnson was presented with individual gifts from the hostesses. Special guests included the bride-elect’s sorority sisters and close friends her college days at the University of Memphis. BACHELORETTE PARTY Miss Johnson’s bachelorette party took place in Tunica, Miss., and was hosted by Ms. Dillard. Guests stayed the weekend at Harrah’s Tunica and enjoyed spa services at the Bellissimo Spa and Salon and poolside fun at the hotel. A lingerie shower was also held during the weekend events for the bride-elect. Dinner was enjoyed at the new Paula Deen Buffet. Special guests included bridesmaids and sorority sisters of the bride-elect. Published in The Messenger 7.31.08
