Rash of thefts plagues MPD
Area thefts have plagued a local police department as it works to solve home burglaries including a theft of gasoline from a vehicle. The Martin Police Depart-ment was called to a home on Lakeview Drive Friday after the homeowner noticed items missing from his detached garage. According to an incident report, Herman DeBoard contacted the department after noticing gasoline missing from his 1998 Dodge Ram truck. The report also cites two lawn mowers and a gas can were taken form DeBoard’s garage in addition to approximately 17 gallons of gasoline. The incident is still under investigation. The MPD is also investigating a weekend burglary at a home on Poplar Street. Apparently the homeowner, Aura Marzouk, noticed her garage door was open after she took a trip to Wal-Mart. A Razor electric bike, super electric blower and a Black and Decker hedgehog were apparently taken from Marzouk’s garage that afternoon. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $285. A vehicle on Edgewood Circle was also the target of a burglary Tuesday night. The incident report cites Trent Jones got into his vehicle the next morning to go to work when he noticed some loose change missing from the vehicle. A radar detector, a Beretta Cougar 40 caliber pistol, a Nikon range finder and a Case knife were reportedly taken from the vehicle as well. The items were valued at approximately $1,150. The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the thefts can contact the MPD at 587-5355.
