Two Weakley County men charged with heinous crimes are set to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court next month. Jason D. Kayser of Sharon is accused of beating his wife into an unconscious state at the couple’s home earlier this year. A release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department in April cited Jason Kayser drove his wife, April, to a local emergency room. Apparently, April Kayser was unconscious when she was taken to the hospital. She was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where she later died as a result of head injuries. The release states Jason admitted to striking his wife several times during a dispute that allegedly occurred 18 hours before he drove his wife to the hospital. Jason Kayser, 32, faces a charge of second-degree murder. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on Aug. 15 in general sessions court. Also set to appear for a preliminary hearing that day is Thomas Randal “Randy” Pruitt of Gleason. Pruitt is charged with the shooting death of his father, James, on May 15. Reports cite James Pruitt allegedly attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute between Randy Pruitt and his mother. James received a fatal gunshot to the head during the altercation. Randy Pruitt, 30, also faces a charge of second-degree murder. He will appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 15.
