Howell to speak at Bethel commencement

wcp 7/24 Terry Howell, principal of McKenzie High School since 1997, will be the speaker at Bethel College’s Summer 2008 commencement ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. A 1974 graduate of Bethel College, Howell oversees the academic, athletic and extracurricular activities of McKenzie High School and implements new programs and designs curriculum as well as being responsible for the overall operation of the school. In 2007 he was chosen as the Northwest Tennessee Principal of the Year and was a finalist for the Tennessee Principal of the Year. He is a member of Rotary International where he has served as president of the McKenzie club and where he was recognized in 2003 as a Paul Harris Fellow. Additionally, he has been recognized as an outstanding educator, and he is a member and elder of the McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Close to 120 students will take part in the graduation scheduled to take place in the Bouldin Auditorium of the Dickey Fine Arts Building. Seating of guests begins at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The ceremony will be open to the public. Group photos for the master’s degree candidates will be at 3:30 p.m., and group photos for the bachelor’s degree candidates will be at 4:00 p.m. Both will take place on the front steps of Campbell Hall.
