Early signup slated
for OC Youth Football

Early signup for the Obion County Youth Football League has been set for Saturday at the Troy Community Center.
Youngsters in grades 1-5 are both eligible and encouraged to register from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for play in the upcoming season.
Registration fee is $35 per-child for both the flag and tackle leagues.
League organizers said that, depending on the turnout, the possibility exists of returning to the old team format where every Obion County feeder school was represented.
Volunteers are also needed in roles of coaches and commissioners from each school.

UCHS skipper Bowling
to meet with parents

Union City High School football coach Darren Bowling will meet with parents of his players Thursday evening at 7 p.m. prior to leaving for camp on Friday.
After the meeting with the players, a Booster Club meeting is scheduled at the Purple-and-Gold room.
All members and prospective members are urged to attend as new officers will be elected and an array of projects for the upcoming school year will be discussed.

Hickman Country Club
to host 3-man scramble

The Hickman Country Club will be hosting a three-man scramble golf tournament Aug. 9-10.
Entry fee is $180 per team with prizes being awarded to the top performers in each of three possible flights.
Prizes will be based upon the amount of teams that participate in the event.

to convene Thursday

The South Fulton Athletic Booster Club will hold a meeting Thursday evening at 6 in the high school library.
All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend as a number of issues will be discussed regarding the SF athletic programs.

Titans agree to terms
with rookie tight end

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a multiyear contract with rookie tight end Craig Stevens.
He was a third-round draft pick out of the University of California.
The Titans have now agreed to terms with five of their seven 2008 draft choices, with only running back Chris Johnson and defensive lineman Jason Jones unsigned. Johnson was picked in the first round and Jones in the second.
The team opens training camp Friday.

Women’s golf outing
ends in tie at 4-under

The combination of Mary Ruth Wiseman, Jackie Russell, Tammy McIntosh, Cheryl Brundige and Shirley Hardin tied with the team of Sharon Dills, Savanah Dills, Novella Little, Cathy Hall and Charolette Hall to share first place with both squads shooting 4-under-par in the weekly women’s scramble at Wynridge Greens in Troy Tuesday evening, according to information provided by the course.
Wynridge Greens holds its weekly women’s scramble every Tuesday evening.
