The Messenger. 07.21.08 Woodrow W. Brundige, 95, of Martin died July 17, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Martin First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jere Phillips officiating. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Pallbearers were David Brundige, Mitch Denison, Lindbergh Crittendon, Donnie McWherter, Randy Brundige and Gordon Bruff. Honorary pallbearers were members of Fellowship Sunday School Class at Martin First Baptist Church. He was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Weakley County, son of the late Homer C. and Gertie (Smith) Brundige. He was married to the former Allie Burpo, who survives, for 74 years and was the former owner of Brundige Sausage Co. in Fulton and Portageville, Mo. He was a member of Martin First Baptist Church. Survivors also include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe W. and Jo Alice Brundige and Woody L. and Faye Brundige, all of South Fulton; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Jim Denison of Lexington; and 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Dean Brundige; his daughter, Shirley Philbrick; five brothers, E.J. Brundige, H.C. “Ham” Brundige, Ruben Brundige, Harold Brundige and Carnel Brundige; and his sister, Zula McWherter.
