The Messenger. 07.21.08 Novell (Deen) Tarver, 93, of Union City died at her home July 19, 2008. Graveside services were set for 10 a.m. today at East View Cemetery, with Virgil Hale and Richard Guill officiating. Pallbearers were to be Billy Joe Petty, Bill Flippen, Kenneth Kemp and John Kaplan. White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to Berea Church of Christ on Mount Pelia Road in Rives. She was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Obion County, daughter of the late Odie and Mable (Ruble) Deen. She married Orval Tarver June 1, 1947. He died June 21, 1992. She had been a seamstress at Bennett’s in downtown Union City for 30 years and was a member of Berea Church of Christ. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raiford and Debbie Tarver of Union City; her sister, Ruble Deen of Rutherford; and several nieces and nephews.
