wcp 7-22 Joyce Lee High Walker, 86, of Martin, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at her home. Services were at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Martin, with Dr. Jere Phillips officiating. Burial was at East Side Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Greg Walker, Ryan Garner, Jessie Seator, Micah High, John L. High and Nathan Hill served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Joe High, Wilburn High, Rob Ayers, Thomas Brewer, Tommy Bradberry, Bobby Goode, Steve Deason, Bob Robinson, Gov. Ned McWherter and the Radiance Sunday School Class. Ms. Walker was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Martin, daughter of the late Lloyd and Lozettie Gardner High. She was a graduate of Martin High School, formerly worked for City State Bank, retired from United American Bank, presently worked with Northwest Tennessee Human Resources Agency and was an administrative assistant with Senior AIDS Program. She was a member of Martin First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Jeffrey L. (Cindy) Walker of Martin; a sister, Janette Jones of Martin; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh Walker and Gregory Landan Walker, both of Martin. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Gregory Walker; a daughter, Jennifer Lee Walker; and a brother, John Robert High. Web site: murphyfuneralhome.net
