Gibson County Fair pageants scheduled

wcp 7-22 Gibson County Fairest of the Fair pageants will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, with the 2008 Miss Gibson County Fair. This competition is open to girls 16-20 years old. The competition will include private interviews and evening gown competition. The newly crowned Miss Gibson County Fair will reign over several festivities during the fair week and will be the Gibson County representative competing at the state pageant in January 2009. The Gibson County Fair officially begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, with opening ceremonies, followed by the Mr. and Miss Junior Petite competition for ages 4 -5 years at 7 p.m. The Little Miss Fairest of the Fair pageant, for ages 6 to 9 years old, will be at 8 p.m. Two pageants are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5, starting at 6 p.m. with the Junior Miss Gibson County Fair, open to girls ages 10-12. At 7 p.m., Teen Miss Gibson County Fair for girls ages 13-15 will be held. The final group of competitions will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, with the crowning of Baby Mr. and Miss Gibson County Fair for babes in arms category at 6 p.m., followed by Tiny Mr. and Miss Gibson County Fair for girls and boys walking to 23 months. The pageants conclude at 8 p.m. with the Petite Mr. and Miss Gibson County Fair, which is open to girls and boys ages 2-3 years. All pageants are open to residents of Gibson, Crockett and Weakley counties. Practice for Miss Gibson County Fair will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1. Practice for all other pageants will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3. Both the practices and the pageants will be held inside the Durand Lowery building at the Gibson County Fairgrounds in Trenton. The Gibson County Fair is 153 years old, which is the oldest fair in the South!
