Bridal courtesies held for Miss Gray, Conner

Several bridal parties were held recently honoring Laura Beth Gray of Union City and Keith Conner of Troy prior to their recent marriage. The bride is the daughter of Betty J. Gray and the late Michael G. Gray of Union City. She is the granddaughter of Rose Jackson of Union City, the late William F. Jackson, the late John R. Gray and the late Jane A. Gray. The groom is the son of Ronnie and Donna Conner of Troy. His grandparents are Helen Conner Edwards and Bascom and Hazel Cunningham, all of Troy, and the late G.C. Conner Jr. and the late R.A. Edwards. SHOWER A shower was held in the fellowship hall of Troy Church of Christ. Hostesses for the event were ladies of the congregation. Guests enjoyed chocolate-covered strawberries, cheese balls with assorted crackers, mixed nuts, a variety of vegetables with dip, cake squares and white grape juice punch. A “bridal bouquet” for the rehearsal was made using bows and ribbons from the gifts attached to a foam plate. The hostesses presented individual gifts to the honoree. The congregation as a whole presented the bridal couple with a gift card. TEA A tea was held in the fellowship hall of Smith Street Church of Christ in South Fulton. Hosting the event were church members JoAnn Bard, JoAnn Boyd, Deloris Burke, Margaret Dunavant, Odie Faulkner and Martha Oliver. They presented the couple with a dinner plate in their China pattern. Tiny sandwiches, cookies, a variety of fruits with dip, nuts, a cheese ball with crackers and pineapple punch were served to the guests. TEA A tea was hosted by family members and friends of the groom at First Baptist Church in Troy. Guests were served almond-filled apricots, cheese balls with assorted crackers, cake squares, an assortment of vegetables and dip, mixed nuts and punch. Hostesses for the event were Janis Cunningham, Jo Anne Dial, Teeny King, Larhue Petty and Shannon Preuett, all of Troy, and Jill King of Union City. They gave individual gifts to the honoree. TOOLS AND KITCHEN SHOWER A tools and kitchen shower was held at the country home of Jerry and Vicky Duncan of Union City. Co-hosting the event were Heath and Cindy Duncan, Scott and Amy Duncan and Jim and Jean Jackson, all of Union City. Hoagie sandwiches, pickles, chips, assorted vegetables and dip, fruits and dip, a cheese ball with crackers, pound cake and soft drinks were served. TEA Co-workers of the bride hosted a tea in the lunchroom of Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, where she is employed as a registered dietitian. The ladies enjoyed cake, nuts, mints and punch while on their break time. LINGERIE SHOWER The bridesmaids hosted a lingerie shower at the home the bridal couple in Troy, after dining at the White House Restaurant in Troy. Lemonade with fresh mint, cheesecake, white grapes and apple slices were served. Bridesmaids hosting the event were Rebecca Gray and Amy Duncan, both of Union City, Kasey Miller of Springfield, Ill., and Amy Anguish of Round Rock, Texas. Published in The Messenger 7.21.08
