wcp 7-17-08 July 12 was my granddaughter Lauren’s birthday. We celebrated her birthday at Wee Play Inflatables ( in Union City. We had a wonderful time watching the little ones jump and play in the bouncers and on the toys. Lauren had an Arial cake and ice cream. We had several people attending from Lauren’s preschool. She received a lot of nice gifts, and all the children seem to have a great time! Thank you for coming and attending her party. The Sharon Library Teen Reading Program that began July 1 and will end July 30 is going strong this month. Go to the library and find out how you can read and win an MP 4 player. The Summer Reading Program was a huge success. Sharon children read 1152 books. Seventy-eight children signed up and a total of 215 children attended four programs. Also attending the four programs were 90 adults. Twenty-three children entered the rocket-making contest in conjunction with summer reading and created some fine examples of space engineering out of paper towel holders. Jacob Melton won the play tent for having 82 books read to him! Book Buzz meets July 24 at 1:30 in the library. At the last meeting the group discussed 16 books. The library is also still offering the shredding service at the library too. For any questions about the library you can call 456-2707. Betty and Jerry Cannon will celebrate their anniversary on July 22! Happy anniversary to you from the Sharon community! Want to see your loved ones on my list? E-mail or call me with your information, too! The home of David and Bonnie Roberts was the site for a family gathering during the July 4 weekend. The in-ground pool was a gathering place for all the young folks. Everyone enjoyed food and fellowship at lunch and supper Saturday. About 35 people had lunch on Sunday after a worship service there. David’s mother, Martha Jim Pryor Roberts was there. Also in attendance were Jim and Aline Roberts, their three sons, Gary, John and Lee, and all their families, and Anna Roberts’ mother, Shirley Berney. David’s two children, Russell and Melissa, were there with their families. Martha Jim’s sister, Rose Arants, and her brothers, William and Don Pryor and their wives, as well as Don’s son and his family, were in attendance. Cousins Louise Priestley Simmons, Kieth Priestley and his mother, Martha Priestley, were there as well as cousin Amy Atnip Cavataio and her husband, Bill. They all look forward to another happy time together next year. Billy and Melissa Allen and their children Andrew and Emily returned Sunday from Chicago after a visit with Billy’s relatives there. Well, for today, that is all the news that is news from the Sharon community. Remember to continue to pray for our military, your neighbors, and that God will have mercy on our land! May God bless you all!
