The Messenger. 07.14.08 Buddy Miller, 73, of Dyersburg died 11:45 a.m. July 13, 2008, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis. He was the older brother of Charles A. Miller of Union City. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cool Springs Cemetery, southeast of Trimble. The Rev. Don Williams will officiate. Friends may call at Dyersburg Funeral Home this evening from 5-8 and from 10 a.m. until time to leave for the cemetery Tuesday. He was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Charleston, Mo., son of the late Bob Miller of Paducah, Ky., and Beatrice Miller Johnson of Newbern. He was also the stepson of the late David Johnson of Newbern. He had been a salesman for Wonder Bread Co. in Union City before moving to Dyersburg, where he was a company supervisor for 20 years. He was the manager of the Dyersburg Welcome Center on Interstate 155 until his death. He had been an avid duck hunter and as a high school student at the former Newbern High School, he was a member of the famed Newbern Choctaws, who won the Northwest Conference Championship on two separate occasions and the Little Cotton Bowl his senior year. He is also survived by his wife of 55 years, Mae (Martin) Miller; his son, Bobby Miller Sr.; his grandson, Bobby Miller Jr.; another brother, Jim Miller of Ripley; two nephews, David Miller and Shawn Miller of Memphis; two nieces, Beth McManus of Union City and Lisa Miller of Memphis; two sisters-in-law, Claudine Minton of Trimble and Barbara Davis of Dyersburg; his uncle, BJ Ashley of Ft. Worth, Texas; and several other nieces and nephews.
