SELMER (AP) — A manufacturing company in Selmer will close in early 2009, leaving about 60 employees jobless. Liberty Building Systems will close in phases with the first jobs lost this fall, according to a press release from BlueScope Steel North America, the parent company of Liberty Building Systems. The national company manufactures pre-engineered building systems for commercial, agricultural and industrial projects. Selmer’s plant filled two buildings. Matt Threadgill, Liberty general manager, told The Jackson Sun the closing is necessary “to support the nationwide expansion of Liberty Building Systems and the strategic direction for the business.” Published in The Messenger 7.14.08
