GLADEVILLE(AP) — The Indy Racing League and officials with Nashville’s Superspeedway plan to resume negotiations this week to keep the track part of the 2009 IndyCar schedule. The track’s vice president, Cliff Hawks, said he met with IRL officials on Friday and plans to again this week. IRL’s commercial division president Terry Angstadt said the league would hold either 18 or 19 races next season. He said the league is attempting to have a 50-50 split between oval and street/road courses because of the merger this season with the Champ Car Series, which is known for road-course racing. Nashville is one of 11 ovals on this years 18-race schedule. Published in The Messenger 7.14.08
