Teen to be tried as adult in fatal shooting in Dyersburg

DYERSBURG (AP) — A 16-year-old boy will stand trial as an adult in the killing of a man at a Dyersburg motel. A Juvenile Court judge on Tuesday ordered the first-degree murder case against Darius Brown moved to adult court. Brown is held in lieu of $125,000 bond in the May 4 shooting death of Karl Maurice Franklin of Gardendale, Ala., at the Sunrise Inn. Also facing a murder charge in the case is 18-year-old Keaston Danterrian Tipton. A third man was also arrested as a suspect, but faces a lesser charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
