The Ken-Tenn Humane Society is sponsoring a “Bark in the Park Day” Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City. The event is being staged to encourage local residents to adopt a dog from the Union City pound. Members of the organization will be on hand to help animal lovers make their selections, a spokesman said. Among the dogs available for adoption will be two black Lab puppies (possibly these are mixed-breed dogs); a small dog with medium-length hair that looks like a Shepherd mix and is black, brown and white; a yellow Lab-mix that is pale yellow; two black Lab-mix dogs; seven puppies of various colors that will be medium-sized dogs; and two dogs from the Hickman, Ky., pound — one looks like a Terrier and the other is a Retriever-mix. With the exception of the latter, all the dogs are from the Union City area and some were turned over to the Humane Society before they were taken to the pound, a spokesman said.
