The Messenger. 07.08.08 Mary D. Gray, 93, of Union City died July 8, 2008, at 1:45 a.m. at Golden Living Center in Union City. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Church of God in Union City, with burial following in Obion County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 10 am. until the hour of services. The Revs. Mel Jacobs and Wayne McLean will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gene Gray, Jerry Gray, Ronnie Gray, Ryan Gray, C.J. Williams and Gavin Hollandsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Allen, Austin Tidwell and Courtland Gray. The family requests that memorials be made to First Church of God, 415 South Miles Ave., Union City, TN 38261. Dilday Funeral Home in Union City is in charge of arrangements. She was born July 5, 1915, in Fulton County, Ky., daughter of the late Claude Dell and Pearl Elizabeth (Jones) Council. She married Andrew Gray Nov. 22, 1931. He died Oct. 6, 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God in Union City, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Merry Leip of Union City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Betty Jo Gray and Jerry and Charlotte Gray, all of Union City; her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Carl Howard of Mount Vernon, Ill.; her brother and sister-in-law, Dairl and Norma Council of Bradenton, Fla.; three grandchildren, Gina Williams of Union City, Ronnie Gray of Bartlett and Laura Tidwell of Dickson; and seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Joey Northam; her great-grandson, Darin Gray; two brothers, John David Council and Aaron Council; her sister, Opal Irving; her half brother, Jimmy Langford; and her half sister, Christine Daniels.
