Henrietta Matheny Murphey

Henrietta Matheny Murphey, 80, of Dresden, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Services were held 2 p.m. Saturday at Dresden Church of Christ, with Danny Douglas, Bobby Crittendon and Mike Tucker officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Travis Ellis, John Perkins, Wes Perkins, Matthew Matheny, Dennis Ellis and James Matheny Jr. served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Damon Matheny, Ramon Matheny and Dennis Hopkins. Mrs. Murphey was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Paris, daughter of the late Clifford Alford and Bertha Lee Owens Dinkins. She was the widow of G. W. Matheny, Henry Karlsson and S. L. Murphey. She was retired as a title abstractor for Harold Brundige Law Office and was a member of Dresden Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Kay Ellis of Nashville, Beverly (Mitchell) Parham and Rita (William) Perkins, both of Dresden; two sons, James H. (Carol) Matheny of Pilot Oak, Ky., and Ronnie Matheny of Sullivan, Mo.; one sister, Betty Floyd of Murfreesboro; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 10 sisters and two brothers.
