Billy Sid Tate Sr.

Billy Sid Tate Sr., 68, of Sharon, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Pisgah Methodist Church near Dresden, with the Rev. H.B. Fields officiating. Burial was at Pisgah Cemetery. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ralph Nelms, Max Littrell, Mark Perkins, Ron Cheatham, Brian Lawrence, LeRoy Bennett, Hughes Bennett, Jim Isbell and George Cristoe served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Wade, Ted Lee Winstead, Raymond Douglas and Harold “Pete” Riley. Tate was born in Rutherford, son of the late James W. and Margaret Halliburton Tate. He was retired from World Color and was a member of Pisgah Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Loretta Ann Watts Tate of Sharon; a son, Billy Tate Jr. of Sharon; and a grandson, William Daniel Tate of Sharon. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Daniel Tate; and a brother, James Tate.
