Attorney-at-law Didi Christie has begun practicing law with attorney Mary Ellen Stevens in her firm at 313 South Third St. in Union City.
A Jackson native who now lives in Medina, Ms. Christie graduated from Union University in Jackson in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in English and from the Nashville School of Law in 1996 with a doctor of jurisprudence.
She had been the 1994 recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Anne Harris Schneider Chapter of Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women.
She was licensed to practice law and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1996.
Ms. Christie, who most recently had her own private practice in Medina, worked with Ms. Stevens for a year in 1997 and was a juvenile probation officer for 10 years prior to becoming an attorney.
In addition, her previous legal experience includes child support prosecution, working as an attorney for the Department of Children’s Services and several years of private practice in her own office in Brownsville. The majority of her private practice has been in criminal defense.
Ms. Christie said she likes Union City and its people and she hopes to move to the area in the near future.
“I’m excited about being back here and look forward to providing legal services to folks in this area and working with the local bar, which is one of the most professional and congenial in West Tennessee,” she said.
The local law firm is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
