The Messenger. 07.03.08 Celebration slated Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Troy will hold the second annual Celebration in the Park Saturday. The community is invited to attend this free event. There will be games for children beginning at 11 and hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone. Following the meal, there will be gospel music at 1 p.m., featuring singing with Julie Council, Connie and Sarah Tittle and others. “Come join the fun as we celebrate and praise God for this great nation and the freedoms He allows us to have here in the United States,” said the pastor, the Rev. Terry Council. The church is located at 126 North Maple St. Brundages to minister The Rev. Hardy and Marianne Brundage of Houston will be ministering at Manna Ministries, located at 4001 Ken-Tenn Highway, Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The couple have a traveling ministry of preaching and singing, backed by letters of recommendation from well-known ministers such as Paul Crouch, Mike Murdock, R.W. Shambach and Nancy Harmon, according to a spokesman, who said Brundage has been praised as an outstanding preacher and minister of the Word of God and is in the forefront of evangelism today. Mrs. Brundage is a talented gospel singer. Some time ago, after an examination and consultation with several medical specialists, she was pronounced stricken with terminal cancer and “given up to die.” Her testimony of God’s healing power has encouraged many others to reach out and accept their miracle and healing from God. Her anointed singing and testimony will bless and strengthen you, according to the pastor, the Rev. Ruth Green. The community is invited to attend. To provide lunch Members of New Faith Church at 305 North Broadway in Obion will be providing white beans, cornbread and ham, plus dessert, for $5 July 11, eat-in or delivery. Those who wish to purchase a meal may phone 624-0040 for delivery. Funds raised will go to help make payments on the church property. Members will also be accepting donations for a new air conditioner for the auditorium. Bishop Lee Cook is pastor. Homecoming events set Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, located at 602 Melrose St. in Union City, will observe a 60th homecoming celebration Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Michael Hudges and the St. Peter Church congregation from Senatobia, Miss., will be special guests and Hudges will bring the message. Men in Action will meet July 12 at 6 p.m. at the church and the Rev. John Parham will bring the message. Thomas E. Turner is chairman of the event. The Rev. John Brooks is pastor. VBS planned Vacation Bible School is planned for July 7-11 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 2012 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City. The theme will be “The Armor of God,” and the focus will be on “The Belt of Truth” Monday, “The Breastplate of Righteousness” Tuesday, “Sandals of the Gospel” Wednesday, “Shield of Faith” July 10 and “Helmet of Salvation/Sword of the Spirit” July 11. There will be adult classes as well as sessions for children and the community is invited to attend. Church to celebrate Greater Vision Church of God, located at 701 Mary Jane St. in Troy, will host a Fourth of July celebration today at 6 p.m. There will be singing at 7 and fireworks at 9. The community is invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening.
