BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — A Tennessee couple has committed to a $7.15 million estate gift to Western Kentucky University.
The Bowling Green-based university announced on Friday the gift from Dorris E. “D.B” and Lula Burchett of Germantown, a Memphis suburb.
It would be the third-largest one-time gift in the school’s history.
The gift will be in the form of a trust and bequest to support the Gordon Ford College of Business, which school officials said could transform the program and set it apart from peer institutions.
“D.B” Burchett is a retired vice president of operations and market development at Terminix. He earned his bachelor of science in accounting from WKU in 1967.
