By BONNIE HURT Special to The Messenger Word has been received of the death of June (Thomason) Gorman, formerly of the Mason Hall community. She was the daughter of the late Halford “Hop” and Evie Thomason. She was married to the late Charles Gorman, who had been a teacher at the former Mason Hall School. She is survived by a sister, Florence Thomason of Bethesda, Md. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ross Thomason, and her sister, Hazel (Thomason) Banks. Mason Hall Family and Community Education Club met recently at Mason Hall Community Club. University of Tennessee Extension agent Benita Giffin gave a demonstration on healthy summer drinks. Business was discussed and a good lunch was enjoyed by those in attendance, including several of the men who are members of the club. Several upcoming events were discussed. A dress revue was held by the FCE clubs recently. James C. Hurt, his wife Amy Hurt and their children will be coming to the area for a visit. They will be staying during July. The weather is hot again. Make sure outside pets have plenty of cool water. They’ll fare the weather a lot better if you do. ——— Editor’s note: Bonnie Hurt is The Messenger’s reporter for Mason Hall community news. She may be contacted at 673-4448.
