The Messenger. 06.26.08 Barbecue supper set Cayce (Ky.) United Methodist Church will host the congregation’s annual barbecue supper July 16 beginning at 5 p.m. Barbecued pork and mutton with all the trimmings, plus drinks and dessert, will be served. The public is invited to attend. VBS to begin “Faith Expedition: God’s Treasures Revealed” will be the theme for Vacation Bible School at Mount Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church July 7-11 from 6-8:30 p.m. Students will travel across time through the lives of Moses, David, Daniel, Matthew, Paul and Silas to discover how God gives His covenant people faith to follow His plan, believe His promises and obey His plan. The VBS, where children will be encouraged to discover for themselves that Christ is the answer, will be a combined effort of Antioch Union and Mount Ararat churches. “No one will be lost or left behind on this Faith Expedition,” a spokesman said. Simbeck to preach The Rev. Angie Simbeck will bring the message Sunday at 5 p.m. at New Beginnings Church located at 2221 Oakshire Road in Union City, a new healing and deliverance ministry begun in this area. There are also services at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. The public is invited to attend. The Rev. Val Reed is co-pastor. Parents get a day out Union City Second Baptist Church, located at 831 North Everett Blvd., will be providing “SonShine School, “a parents’ day out event, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Children from six weeks of age to the 4-5 age-range will be welcome. The fee is $10 per day per child, and there is a $25 registration fee. Enrollment forms are available in the church office. Members of the church will have priority during the month of June. The Rev. Eddie Mallonee is pastor. Singing service set The Golden Eagles of Union City First Church of God will host a community sing-along Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the church, located at 415 South Miles Ave. This will be a time when the congregation can join in singing many hymns and old favorites. Director of Senior Ministries Wayne McLean urges all singers and all lovers of gospel singing to join the congregation for this special afternoon. “Let’s cross all denominational, racial and social barriers and praise the Lord together in song,” he says. FUMC to host VBS Union City First United Methodist Church, located at 420 East Main St., will host a Vacation Bible School with the theme “Power Lab” July 7-11 from 9 a.m.-noon. There will be classes for children from 2 years old through sixth grade.
